I am a Fool to do the PhD (Song)

One of my new year's resolution is to start writing songs as a hobby. Over the holidays, I have finished my first work and am decently pleased with it.

Here, I took Steely Dan's "Dirty Work" (one of my favourite songs) and completely rewrote the lyrics as follows:

Times are hard, at this point of my PhD

So I'm feeling really stressed and I've got no incentive to proceed

When I find many jobless people with a doctorate everywhere

That's the time I'll dive right into a world of worry and despair

I'm a fool to do the PhD oh yeaaa...

I don't wanna do this PhD no more

I'm a fool to do the PhD oh yeaaa

Write the paper, it is simple so they say

Whats the point in working so hard if it will be rejected anyway

Cause the work is so intense, while I receive such little pay

This shit ain't what i first expected, I wanna quit this thing today

(Chorus)

You can also hear it in action but I apologize for the atrocious singing in advance (Youtube link here)

I have some potential song ideas at the back of my mind for more creative endeavours, so stay tuned for more silly musical shenanigans.
